International Literacy Day (ILD) is a yearly event on September 8, organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), celebrated globally. In an age of enlightenment, technology and modern living, it’s estimated that nearly 800 million adults worldwide lack basic literacy skills. Literacy Day aims to highlight the importance and value of literary education for individuals and groups, and for the wider global culture. Due to extensive outreach of such globally recognized events, we at Coca-Cola Pakistan feel that associating any activity being done for a cause, with a day that is celebrated internationally, makes it more meaningful and relatable to the audience.

Keeping the above in view, this year, The Coca-Cola Export Corporation (TCCEC), Pakistan is celebrating #CokeBookBank in light of ILD by collaborating with the Lahore Grammar School to motivate more than 1,000 senior school students towards the importance of book donation to enable access to quality education for the lesser privileged students of The Citizens Foundation (TCF), situated in the underserved flood affected areas of Kasur and Muzaffargarh.

For #CokeBookBank students wore special badges spreading the key messages of sharing knowledge, sharing book and realizing a fact that sharing is caring and also wrote personalized messages on a special wall to share the light of hope with their lesser privileged counterparts.

Through this activity, more than 500 books have been collected so far, and next phase of this activity will be held during the week of September 11 in Lahore. For further updates, keep following #CokeBookBank
