The challenge, which is in partnership with 021Disruptseeks participants to share and submit cost-effective ideas within the domain of plastic waste management, i.e. collection, sorting of waste and recycling. The core focus of the challenge for the participants will be to showcase their innovative ideas highlighting, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) collection models and awareness creation strategies, PET sorting model; to sort Coca-Cola PET bottles out of the general plastic waste (shopping bags, wrappers, labels, food packaging etc) and PET recycling models for effective and efficient recycling of Coca-Cola PET packaged products.

Top 3 ideas will get selected for a prize money of Rs. 500,000 (1st prize), Rs. 300,000 (1st runner-up) and Rs. 200,000 (2nd runner up). 

The rise in litter on streets, beaches and in the oceans is an increasingly urgent issue. Food and drinks packaging is a significant part of this worldwide problem and Coca-Cola has a responsibility to help solve it. By investing in our planet and our packaging through our World Without Waste programme, we can help tackle this global challenge. Today, approximately 44 countries have no formal waste management systems in place, and about 59 countries lack proper recycling infrastructure.

On Jan. 19, The Coca-Cola Company announced a bold, ambitious goal: World Without Waste, to help bring back a bottle or can for every one we sell by 2030. To achieve this, we will continue to focus on designing our packaging to be 100% recyclable across our expanding portfolio, while partnering with local communities, NGOs, industry, and consumers to ensure packaging doesn’t end up where it doesn’t belong.

To achieve ‘Pakistan Without Waste’, Dasani has set four goals:

  1. Make recycling more accessible to achieve 100% collection and recycling by 2030
  2. Help people understand what, how, and where to recycle
  3. Continue to focus on making our packaging 100% recyclable
  4.  Use more recycled content materials in our packaging

The Dasani Discovery Challenge embarks on the same vision and core values of The Coca-Cola Company; creating a World Without Waste and essentially Pakistan Without Waste.
